International star to appear at Kings Hill
International singing star Katherine Jenkins will be appearing at Kings Hill, near West Malling, in a concert to raise money for two children’s charities.
She will be headlining an exciting new outdoor event, ‘Music on the Hill’, which is being organised by Demelza Hospice Care for Children and The Children’s Development Trust in conjunction with Kings Hill’s development partners Liberty Property Trust UK Ltd and Kent County Council, who are providing the site.
The event will take place over three days from Friday 24 June to Sunday 26 June 2011.
As one of the country’s most popular stars, Katherine is credited with bringing classical music to a wider audience and will perform with the National Symphony Orchestra on the first evening, Friday 24 June.
Saturday 25 June will feature a pop concert by an internationally renowned boy band and Sunday 26 June will be a Demelza Summer Sunday, a family day with great entertainment, children’s activities and a food festival. Details on both there events will be announced shortly.
“I’m delighted to be headlining the very first Music on the Hill event in aid of Demelza Hospice Care for Children and The Children’s Development Trust,” said Katherine. “I’ve performed at a number of different venues over the years but it is always very special to be singing in this type of informal setting, where I can really interact with the audience. I hope people will come along with their friends and family, bring a picnic and enjoy a whole host of classical music, hopefully in the Kent sunshine!”.
‘Music on The Hill’ will take place in a dedicated arena at Kings Hill and will offer an opportunity to enjoy favourite artists in informal surroundings. In addition to a great musical experience, there will be high quality food and drink which will be locally sourced where possible.
100% of the profits from the event will be donated to Demelza Hospice Care for Children, which cares for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Kent, East Sussex and South East London, and to The Children’s Development Trust, which helps children and young people up to 18 years of age achieve their potential through personal skills, education, sport, health and well-being. It is particularly close to Demelza but has assisted young people around the UK and internationally.
“This will be a terrific event and we are delighted that Katherine Jenkins and other high-profile musicians will be performing at Kings Hill – which will be especially convenient for everyone who lives or works here!,” said Andrew Blevins, managing director of Liberty Property Trust UK Ltd. “It is a pleasure to be involved with two such worthwhile charities and I am sure a great deal of money will be raised.
“Kings Hill’s location only two miles from junction 4 of the M20 and within walking distance or shuttle bus ride from West Malling for Kings Hill train station will mean easy access from all parts of Kent, London and the South East. We have plenty of space here for parking and for people to enjoy the landscaped grounds.”
