McFly announced as second headliner for Music on the Hill
Demelza Hospice Care for Children and The Children’s Development Trust are delighted to reveal the second act to perform at Music on the Hill staged over the weekend of 24, 25 and 26 June 2011 in Kings Hill, West Malling, Kent.
Following the announcement last month that Katherine Jenkins will be performing on Friday 24 June, we are now excited to reveal that pop band McFly will be coming to Kings Hill on Saturday 25 June. Tickets to see McFly will go on sale on Friday January 21st.
Formed in 2004 with Dougie Poynter, Harry Judd, Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher, Brit Award-winning McFly have enjoyed huge success in the UK with 18 top ten singles to date, including seven UK No. 1 chart singles and two No. 1 albums in the UK alone. When their debut album, Room on the 3rd Floor went straight in at number one the band became the youngest band ever to have achieved this – taking this prized spot from the Beatles. The Music on the Hill date follows hot on the heels of their recently announced 13-date UK arena tour this spring. Their fifth album Above The Noise was released in November and, to date, McFly have sold an estimated 8 million records worldwide.
A statement from McFly said: “We’re really excited to be playing at Music on The Hill on 25th June in aid of Demelza Hospice Care for Children and The Children’s Development Trust. We’re looking forward to rocking out in Kent for two amazing causes!”
Music on The Hill will take place in a dedicated arena at Kings Hill in Kent, located close to the picturesque village of West Malling and will offer an opportunity to enjoy favourite artists in more intimate surroundings. In addition to a great musical experience, there will be high quality food and drink, where possible sourced from Kent producers.
The headliner for Sunday 26 June has yet to be announced but it will mark a change of pace from the Friday and Saturday evenings with a ‘Summer Sunday’. A family festival atmosphere plays host to some great family music and entertainment, children’s activities and a festival of locally sourced produce. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.
Apart from offering a first class entertainment experience, Music on the Hill is a fundraising event in aid of two charities: Demelza Hospice Care for Children and The Children’s Development Trust. 100% of the profits generated will be donated to these two causes. In addition, the event is being generously supported by a number of companies and organisations including the site development partners, Liberty Property Trust UK (Liberty) and Kent County Council (KCC), who have kindly agreed to provide the venue.
