Kings Hill Liberty Square
Liberty Square comprises approximately 35,000 sq ft of restaurant, retail and medical accommodation arranged in 4, 2-storey buildings, providing 21 units. As part of the wider Kings Hill development, it provides a vibrant, new heart to the growing business and residential communities and is designed to encourage its own “café society” appeal and the sense of place is enhanced by its own sculpture. The mix of retail tenants provides a choice of every-day conveniences for the Kings Hill community within walking distance.
The architectural vocabulary of Liberty Square has emerged from the study of Kentish vernacular and traditional village locations, interpreted in a contemporary way. A mix of local materials has been utilised – such as timber, weather boarding, glass, plain tiles, stone and brick. Pedestrian squares designed around existing mature trees have been created. The designs of the buildings and the spaces around them have been set out to create a streetscape of a human scale. Pedestrian green routes and cycleways lead from the surrounding business park and Kings Hill residential villages. It is also designed to be accessible by car and public transport.
